Gone Surfing is a studio apartment in Umdloti Beach that can accommodate a couple or a family of up to 4 people, with one queen sized bed and one large sofa which can sleep one adult or two small children. Just 10 kms from Durban King Shaka International Airport lies Umdloti Beach, also known as eMdloti, which is a small resort village on Kwa Zulu Natal’s North Coast. Our studio apartment, Gone Surfing, is in a secure apartment complex situated in a fantastic location on the waterfront,  directly across from the tidal swimming pool, and a few steps from a café and two restaurants.

Local amenities:

Umdloti is a small village that is surprisingly well serviced with shops and restaurants. Very close to the apartment you’ll find Foam café, Tasca Pizza and Sand Bar restaurant. 5 minutes walk down the beach adjacent to the main traffic circle is Umdloti Centre where you’ll find several more cafes and restaurants, a fuel station, pharmacy, laundry and clothing shops.

For grocery shopping there is a Kwikspar within walking distance (they also deliver), or you can drive or get a local shuttle up to Salta Marine Walk mini mall. There are several shops and restaurants and an excellent Spar and Woolworths foods.

Travel:

King Shaka International Airport  Umdloti beach is 10km from King Shaka International Airport, an approximately 15 minute drive, making it a very convenient stayover if flying into or out of Durban. Please note there is a Toll on the way from the airport to Umdloti, so please keep some change or a debit card handy (R8 at time of writing). Take the N2 south and exit at the Verulam and eMdloti junction.

If you don’t have a car a transfer to or from the airport can be arranged if required, or you can use Uber.

Central Durban with its Golden Mile beach front and world-class aquarium Ushaka Marine World is 30 minutes scenic drive away along the coast.

Johannesburg is approximately 6 hours drive from Umdloti Beach with good motorways from start to end (N2 and N3).

Go Surfing! Of course.. Bring your board, or you can hire or take lessons from Victory Surf at the Umdloti Centre near the garage.

More water sports. Kite Surfing , Fishing, Swimming and Sea Kayaking.

Whale watching. (Jun – Nov) With binoculars from your apartment! Or go out to sea on a whale watching boat.

Ushaka Marine World. This is a wonderful aquarium with a wet and wild. Great for adults and children with lots of shops, eateries and a lovely beach, pier and beach promenade area. Just 3o minutes drive from Umdloti – it’s definitely worth spending a day here.

Shopping. If you can’t resist an opportunity for shopping, there are two excellent shopping malls nearby: The Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga and the Junction in Ballito, both 20 minutes drive away.
